Max Marshall, a singer-songwriter and well-known guitarist sideman from Windsor-Essex County, was interviewed recently by Bob Steele on his CBC program “Afternoon Drive.” Marshall’s hometown of Essex Ontario is planning a series of free summer concerts, but Marshall is having nothing to do with it. Marshall sums up, “We as teachers, mentors, and players, have to instill in the younger generation that your musical performance is worth financial compensation. As artists we have to be generous, but our municipalities have to help us out.”
