Halloween Organ Recital: Exciting New Venture Features Hamilton Area Organists

Friday, October 24, 2014, 7:30 p.m.

A HALLOWE’EN ORGAN RECITAL is an exciting new venture in Hamilton, sponsored by the Hamilton Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. And what better location than the beautiful St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, one of Hamilton’s (and Canada’s) Gothic Revival masterpieces?

The short, hour-long concert features local performers Alison Slaats, Blair Havers, Christopher Hunt, Andy Elmhirst, Paul Grimwood, Shawn Grenke and Stillman Matheson. Featured music includes the famous Boëllmann "Toccata Gothique", the Funeral March of a Marionette, the Bach Toccata and Fugue in d minor, Hedwig’s Themefrom Harry Potter, and "The Haunted Organ" from the Ghost and Mr Chicken.

Reading of some Hallowe’en Poetry will also help to set the mood!

This will be a great event for children and young people, and will not be a late night. We had a wonderful crowd of nearly 200, many of them children last year. Toddlers and children enjoyed this as much as the adults did!

The concert takes place at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, James Street South at Jackson Street, Hamilton, on Friday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but a free-will donation will be received at the door. For more information, write to rccohamilton@gmail.com
