Modern-Day Blues Man Alfie Smith Lights Up Harrison Kennedy Benefit

You need to soak up a few minutes of Alfie Smith's baritone blues, as heard at yesterday's Harrison Kennedy benefit.

The event took place at Hamilton's Citadel Theatre on March 9, 2013 to encourage and provide financial assistance as Kennedy gets treatment for prostate cancer. It was a generous move by Kennedy, Hamilton's legendary blues singer-songwriter, to go public about his life-threatening illness.

Many men don't realize that prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, and that when caught early on, BEFORE symptoms arise, it is much easier to successfully eliminate it.

Prostate Cancer Canada had representatives at the event to distribute information. A simple PSA blood test is an important way to screen for the disease before symptoms arise, and should be part of a man's health care regime after age 50. Read about the risk factors for prostate cancer here.

Heartfelt and Enriching

On a similarly generous musical note, Alfie Smith's performance was heartfelt and enriching. Take a couple of minutes to enjoy Alfie's music.
